Overview

  • Lead and oversee forestry engineering projects, including road construction, erosion control, and harvest planning.

  • Develop and implement innovative silvicultural and forestry engineering strategies to improve forest management practices.

  • Conduct field assessments to evaluate forest health, infrastructure needs, and environmental impacts.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design forest infrastructure projects, such as roads, bridges, and drainage systems, while adhering to environmental and safety regulations.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers, foresters, and other team members.

  • Ensure compliance with regulations related to forest engineering, timber harvesting, and land conservation.

  • Prepare reports, project plans, cost estimates, and environmental impact assessments.

  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

  • Monitor the progress of ongoing projects and provide recommendations for improvements as necessary.

  • Other items, as required.

Qualifications

 

  • ATC registration with FPBC Required for Timber Cruiser. RFT, ASFIT registration an asset. At least 5 years of previous experience in related work (Preference given to those with BC Coastal Forestry experience)

  • Experience with conducting fieldwork such as conventional and helicopter cut block layout, planting, brushing and other various tasks that may arise in the field.

  • Experience with QGIS, RoadEng, Enfor.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and mentor a team

  • Preference will be given to applicants with Post-secondary Certification or Diplomas in Forestry or a related field​

  • Physically fit and capable of working in coastal terrain

  • Willing to work 10/4 shifts in remote areas with camp/lodging provided

  • Enjoy learning and challenging themselves

  • Must be organized

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Hold a valid class 5 Driver's License 

  • Hold a valid First Aid with transport endorsement (preferred)

  • Embrace safety and lead by example

  • Believe in the benefits of land stewardship
